NOTICE: BY REGISTERING WITH SCLA, AND USING SCLA SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND SCLA’S TERMS OF SERVICE. MOREOVER, IF YOU ARE A MENTOR, YOU ADDITIONALLY AGREE TO THE MENTOR CODE OF CONDUCT AND AGREEMENT AND IF YOU ARE A MENTEE, YOU ADDITIONALLY AGREE TO THE MENTEE CODE OF CONDUCT AND AGREEMENT.
PRIVACY POLICY
When you register with SCLA, and use SCLA Software, you provide SCLA with personally identifiable information (your "SCLA information"). This Policy explains the information practices that apply to your SCLA information. This Policy does not apply to information collected by third parties linked to or otherwise accessible from offerings presented through SCLA. The information collected or received by third party is subject to their own privacy policies.
SCLA Information consists of personally identifiable information collected or received about you when you register to use SCLA or log in to SCLA as a registered user and use SCLA software. Depending on how you use SCLA Software, SCLA information may include registration-related information (such as name, home or work addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, birth date or gender); transaction-related information (such as credit card or other preferred means of payment, or a history of Software purchased through SCLA); information about your visits to SCLA or SCLA Web sites and pages, and your responses to the offerings and advertisements presented on these sites and pages; information about the features or offerings from SCLA that you use, and how frequently you use them); your billing and shipping information; customer Software information about you as a SCLA user or subscriber; and other information specifically related to your use of a particular SCLA feature or offering. SCLA information may be supplemented with additional information from other companies. SCLA information may also include technical information gathered by SCLA when you use SCLA Software.
When you register with SCLA and use SCLA Software, SCLA information will be collected and stored by SCLA. Additionally, SCLA may use the screen name software or other similar technology, to authenticate you on SCLA, help store your registration and your content and transaction-related information, and enable you to take advantage of offerings from SCLA. SCLA’s partners may store information for transactional-related information (such as credit card or other preferred means of payment, or a history of Software purchased through SCLA). We retain the right to collect and use Information collected from your use of our Website and aggregate such data for internal analytics that improve our Website and Service as well as for use or resale to others. At no time is your Personally Identifiable Information included in such data aggregations.
When you use our Website and Software, we automatically collect certain computer information by the interaction of you mobile phone or web browser with our Website. Such information is typically considered Non Personal Information. We also collect the following: our Website uses "Cookies" to identify the areas of our Website that you have visited. A Cookie is a small piece of data stored on your computer or mobile device by your web browser. We use Cookies to personalize the Content that you see on our Website. Most web browsers can be set to disable the use of Cookies. However, if you disable Cookies, you may not be able to access functionality on our Website correctly or at all. We never place Personally Identifiable Information in Cookies.
SCLA also uses third party tracking tools to improve the performance and features of our Website. These third party tracking tools are designed to collect only Non-Personal Information about your use of our Website. However, you understand that such tools are created and managed by parties outside our control. As such, we are not responsible for what information is actually captured by such third parties or how such third parties use and protect that information.
SCLA may use Remarketing with Google Analytics or others to advertise on third party sites to you after you visited our Site. We and our third party vendors, like Google, use first party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to inform, optimize and serve ads based on your past visits to our Site.
SCLA automatically receives information from your web browser or mobile device. This information includes the name of the website from which you entered our Website, if any, as well as the name of the website to which you're headed when you leave our website. This information also includes the IP address of your computer/proxy server that you use to access the Internet, your Internet Website provider name, web browser type, type of mobile device, and computer operating system. We use all of this information to analyze trends among our users to help improve our Website and user benefits.
SCLA Information is used to operate and improve the features, offerings and content presented to you by SCLA; to personalize the content and advertisements provided to you; to fulfill your requests for functionality, to communicate with you and respond to your inquiries; to conduct research about your use of SCLA Software; and to help offer you other SCLA programs and features that may be of interest.
SCLA information may be shared within SCLA and its business divisions. SCLA information will not be shared with third parties unless it is necessary to fulfill a transaction you have requested, or in other circumstances in which you have consented to the sharing of your SCLA information, of if required by your college or school. SCLA may use SCLA information to present offers to you on behalf of business partners and advertisers. These business partners and advertisers receive aggregate data about groups of SCLA users, but do not receive information that personally identifies you, unless it relates to transactional-related information to process your payment or unless you have accepted to receive this information.
If you join SCLA, we share personal identifiable information about our user base with our partners and advertisers and current business and nonprofit partners are provided with access in seeking potential new hires from the membership base of SCLA, one of the benefits of membership. At any time, a user may opt out of receiving any information from a partner or advertiser. Should a user no longer wish to receive our emails, the user may click on the unsubscribe function located within each message received and o/or contact us at membership@thescla.org.
SCLA information, including the contents of your online communications, may be accessed and disclosed in response to legal process (for example, a court order, search warrant or subpoena), or in other circumstances in which SCLA has a good faith belief such use is for unlawful purposes, or to present offers to you on behalf of business partners and advertisers but will not include any personally identifiable material. SCLA may also access or disclose SCLA information when necessary to protect the rights or property of SCLA, or in special cases such as a threat to your safety or that of others.
SCLA may use agents and contractors in order to help operate SCLA. If such agents and contractors have access to personally identifiable information, they are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy by, for example, not using the information for any purpose other than to carry out their contractually assigned responsibilities.
In the unlikely event that ownership of SCLA was to change as a result of a merger or acquisition by another company, SCLA information may be transferred. SCLA will provide you notice prior to any such transfer of your SCLA information. If such a transfer results in a material change in the use of your SCLA information, SCLA will also provide you notice about the choices you have to decline to permit such a transfer.
SCLA and its partners may present customized content and advertisements to SCLA users. SCLA may share certain non-personally identifiable information about you as a SCLA registered user (such as age, zip code or content stripped of any personally identifiable aspects).
SCLA has established safeguards to help prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of your SCLA information, but cannot guarantee that your personally identifiable information will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy (for example, in the event of unauthorized acts by third parties that violate applicable law or the policies of SCLA). To protect your privacy and security, SCLA uses passwords to help verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to any of your SCLA information.
SCLA is intended for the college audience. Regardless, children under the age of thirteen are not permitted to register with SCLA.
